“Who took my badjas?”
By Karolien | Jun 9th, 2009 | Category: Creatieve PRAs a communication specialist I love the influence social media can have in creating a buzz. A good example of this is the latest TV commercial of Belgacom TV. In this commercial you see a man coming out of the shower and looking for his bath robe. In the search for his bath robe he meets famous movie stars, like Nicole Kidman, Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman. The man’s language is a very funny combination of English and Flemish with sentences like “Who took my badjas?”, “You know from nothing zeker?” and “Hola hola, sebiet no koffiekoeken for you hé?”.
The intention of the commercial is to show how Belgacom TV can give you the feeling of living among the stars. I must say I’m very fond of this TV commercial and apparently I’m not the only one … It started when I saw that one of my friends on Facebook changed his status in “Sebiet no koffiekoeken for you hé!”. Immediately he received a lot of reactions from people who also love this commercial and a bit later I already saw fan groups on Facebook with more than 70.000 members! And also on YouTube the commercial is a real hit!
Isn’t this a great example of how good communication can start living its own life through social media and how the reach of this TV commercial becomes so much larger than initially intended? My compliments to Belgacom and their advertising agency and once again a proof of how good commercials and other communication tools do work! Lately I’m starting to think about getting digital television myself and now the big question is: Did the commercial convince me to go for Belgacom TV? …

Hi Karolien
Then you’ll not be surprised to learn that the actor got interviewed on Studio Brussels and for the VTM Nieuws. All based on the Facebook-success. Talking about influence, right?

Pietr
Another question might be relevant too: did your sentiment towards Belgacom changed slightly.
It did change, so yes you did your job very well
