Time to act

by Steven Van Gaever on 17 March, 2009

I rent an apartment which I really like but I ‘m starting to look around to buy a small house. Lots of people tell me, now is the time to act! Interest rates are low and the market is cooling down.

However: when you speak to brokers, they have all these people interested in the property you are visiting and you have to hurry to place a bid. There is also a lot of spinning going on to let me believe everything is fine. I want to know once and for all: what’s up with that! How is my position when I negotiating about a house?

I decided to have a look on Google Adplanner, and made a plan with three of the biggest real estate websites in Belgium: Immoweb , Hebbes and Vlan.

I think the graphs speak for themselves, all three of them have less unique visitors then a year ago. Fewer people are looking for a house, thus leaving more space for me to negotiate.

The only thing I have to do now is find something to negotiate about…
